I am quiet surprised to note that this forum is diminishing it's popularity and contribution towards technical society. In the year 2003, 2004 this forum has tremendous applause and involvement of user.
Please make it once happening guys.

also requesting moderator/ controller to increase publicity by some menas.

I think the biggest problem is that people initially had issues logging into the new site. I know I did for some time. Maybe the site admin should do an advertising blitz to all registered members of the old site and amongst other things, explain any procedure that is required to access this new site.
It appears that a lot of old members have forgotten that this site, a valuable source of information, is still up and running.

I second you colleagues,
I used to be a member since 2001 or so, but when I needed an old post where I had posted about rim wall pittings and remedy.
Just today discovered the new forum and I have to register again.
Propably, the owners need to address all members about the new changes.
I noticed only few people here, this forum was No. 1 inspection forum on the WWW world, how can we revive it again!!!
Thank you all & have a good day. |

About “The Old Discussion Forum format” I think better we use the old format, more user friendly, All members can read all massages. If Admin need To accommodate classification of the topic, in the first page we can add selection box classification until the sender can select this topic and automatically if reader will read only selecting topic, they can read only selecting box. But for first page I think better use the Old Discussion Forum format. I hope Inspection Journal – Discussion Forum will be The best discussion forum for Inspection & Integrity. Why don’t we used the Old Discussion format with selection box ?

Thank you so much for your comments, and your suggestions. We are working the issue.
FYI, we had to change the old forum, which was sad, because there was no way to ensure constant vigilant policing. Really sick people would post things that offended our readers from time to time. we did our best to remove such trash ASAP but some readers threatened to quit if we did not remove such profanity more quickly. In retrospect, I wish we had stayed with the old format. None the less we were sensitive to those who were offended and we are working the issue and plan to do an email blitz informing former users of the changes, encouraging them to renew their participation. We will also make an announcment in the IJ, which continues to grow in popularity. I hope those that complained, for whom we changed, are participating.
Any more ideas are appreciated.
Kindest regards,
Greg Alvarado, IJ Chief Editor |

Inspectioneering forum was the best one three years back
the admin group has all potential to restore that era, if they will.
I feel sad to lose the great debates and handy quick reference for individual.
I believe no one should hold the upper hand in deciding what is relevant or irrelevant. It's a forum and readers can judge what sound good from bad.
I am looking forward for the day I receive the e-mail inviting all to comeback home.

Debasis,
Thank you for your comments. We are currently investing a sizeable amount of money in reclaiming, reorganizing and making all the old discussion available. We hope to have this done by the end of March 2009 and all of the former discussion threads and content organized into the appropriate folders in the new journal.
We will then send an email to all former and new participants and others to let them know of the restoration and availability.
Kindest regards,
Greg Alvarado, Chief Editor The Inspectioneering Journal |
