Chief EditorGreg AlvaradoGreg is a Sr. Consultant with over 27 years of experience in the chemical and refinery industries, having served as a Sr. Member of Monsanto's Materials Engineering Group at the J.F. Queeny Plant in St. Louis, as Chief Chemist for NL Industries and currently specializes in risk based inspection training and project management for The Equity Engineering Group, Inc. as well as Business Development Manager. He is a member of the API Sub-Committee on Inspection, NACE committee on Refining Industry Corrosion, past member of the API group that created the recommended practice (RP 580) for Risk Based Inspection and past Vice-Chairman of the API 571 Committee (conditions leading to the deterioration or failure of refinery equipment). He is also a member of the NACE Process Industries Corrosion & Refining Industry Corrosion committees. Greg is Publisher and Chief Editor of the Inspectioneering Journal (executive newsletter), the first publication to tackle mechanical integrity and reliability issues in the petroleum refining and chemical industries. Chemical & RefiningJohn ReynoldsJohn is an engineering advisor with Shell Oil's Westhollow Technology Center at Houston. He joined Shell in 1968. Over the last 30 years he has held various engineering and management positions in the USA and the Netherlands, within refining and chemical manufacturing, where he has primarily been focused on mechanical integrity issues. John is currently chairman of the API (American Petroleum Institute) Inspection Subcommittee Task Group on Inspection Codes, a member of the ASME Post-Construction Committee, chairman of the API Task Group on NDE Development and chairman of the API Subcommittee on Risk-Based Inspection. Julian Speck, CEng, MWeldI Julian is engineering manager of TWI's Structural Integrity Group. His career includes fabrication quality assurance, materials selection, corrosion and condition assessment, in-service inspection and project management for Chevron in South Africa. He joined TWI in 1998, and has a particular interest in the development of advanced software tools for probabilistic risk-based inspection and fitness-for-service assessment. His experience includes weld integrity assessment and non-destructive testing for new and mature assets (pressure systems, structures and pipelines) in the refining and petrochemical process industries sector, as well as fossil power and offshore oil and gas production. He is an active member of The Welding Institute's Young Members Committee, and a regular contributor to the "Inspectioneering Journal".

Paul Marks
Paul T. Marks is the Founder and
President of NDT Training Center and Placement Center in Houston,
Texas. Mr. Marks is a nationally certified ASNT ACCP Professional
Level III with 37 years of experience in the specific testing
regimens of Ultrasonics, Radiography, Liquid Penetrant and Magnetic
Particle Inspection. In addition to founding and managing two
companies, Mr. Marks has written and instructed the very first
accredited college level NDT course ever offered in the Houston
area. This course was presented first at the main campus of San
Jacinto College, Pasadena, Texas in 1979, and has been presented
continuously since that time.
UtilitiesCharles FosterChuck is a staff engineer for Welding, NDE and Metallurgy, with Pacific Gas and Electric in San Francisco, CA. He is responsible for support of fossil fuel and hydroelectric facilities' mechanical integrity/monitoring programs. Chuck is also responsible for new inspection program development and implementation. He is chairman of AWS G-2 Committee (Joing Alloys Group). Exploration and ProductionBrad FratesBrad joined ARCO Alaska, Inc. in October of 1997 as a Senior Corrosion Engineer working on the North Slope. His responsibilities currently include oversight of an aggressive inspection program to locate and rehabilitate external corrosion on cross-country pipelines and well pad flow lines, as well as serving as a National Board Owner-User Inspector responsible for performing certificate inspections on boilers and pressure vessels. He recently successfully completed the National Board's Advanced Boiler and Pressure Vessel Inspection Course and will be receiving his "O" endorsement. Prior to joining ARCO Alaska, Inc. Brad worked for Unocal Agricultural Products at their Kenai, Alaska Ammonia/Urea Fertilizer Complex as their Inspection Group Supervisor. He served as Chairman of the Alaska Boiler & Pressure Vessel Inspector's Association for two years starting in 1996 and is a member of the ASME. |
